About me
A Certified Planner and LEED design professional with a focus on urban design, planning, and public outreach, Cecily Bedwell has over 30 years of professional experience. As Principal of the firm’s Urban Design Studio, she oversees and manages complex planning projects involving market and economic, traffic and transportation, environmental and public relations consultants.
Cecily’s areas of expertise include preparing strategic and urban design master plans for neighborhood and corridor revitalization, downtown districts, industrial and brownfield sites, TODs and station areas, as well as new mixed-use development. A talented planner and designer, Cecily has prepared the final reports, implementation strategies, and design guidelines for nearly all of Design Collective’s master plan projects and has served as Design Review during implementation for several of the firm’s large-scale master plans.
Cecily has been involved in and managed numerous, successful participatory planning projects including design charrettes and workshops and has worked extensively with municipalities and institutions. To each of her projects, Cecily brings an understanding of the benefits of building on and celebrating the unique aspects of place, pedestrian- and transit-friendly design, the advantages of integrating uses and building types, and the importance of an inclusive and engaging public process.
Over the years, Cecily has lectured on and presented the principles of mixed-use urban design, design guidelines, and supportive zoning to developers, community groups, and public officials, advocating the benefits of sustainable, transit-oriented, mixed-use development.
